About Durgved

Durgved is a free, independent guide to the forts of Maharashtra. It brings together the history of the Sahyadri and Konkan fortresses with the practical detail a traveller actually needs — trek difficulty, altitude, timings, entry fees, seasonal conditions, local food and safety advice.

Every fort page follows the same structure: a timeline of the fort's history, its strategic importance, must-see landmarks, photo spots, nearby forts, and references to Wikipedia, Google Maps and the Archaeological Survey of India so you can verify what you read.

29 forts and trekking peaks are chronicled so far, from Raigad and Shivneri to sea forts like Sindhudurg, Murud-Janjira and Khanderi, and technical treks such as Bhairavgad (Moroshi). New forts are added regularly.

Durgved is built in tribute to the legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and the builders, garrisons and villagers who kept these forts alive. If you spot an error or want a fort covered, we would like to hear from you.
